AREAS WHERE GIFTS ARE NEEDED MOST

EQUIPMENT: Each year the College spends
between $800,000 and $1.2 million on equipment upgrades and new equipment.
New resources must meet evolving needs, including up-to-date computers,
software, science labs, and instruments. To be successful in the workforce
or at the university, our students must be able to successfully compete
with students from other colleges and universities. To do this they
must learn using the most up-to-date equipment and technology available.
Investing in critically needed instructional classrooms, laboratories
and studios will ensure that the College can and will embrace its
future with confidence.

BRICKS AND MORTAR: As enrollment continues
to increase across each of MCC’s three campuses, funds are needed
to help maintain existing facilities and build additional facilities.
The State of Florida offers its colleges the opportunity to apply
for facilities challenge matches offering a dollar for dollar match
if a certain level of funds are raised by February 1st. These matches
make compelling arguments when thinking about how best to have the
broadest impact with your gift. Not only do you make an immediate
impact on the College’s ability to build or renovate, your gift withstands
time by giving life to a new or renovated facility where students
will change their lives through education. Click here for information on the Music/Theater Building renovation initiative. Click here for information on the new Medical Technology and Simulation Center building initiative. Click here for information on the Art Gallery renovation initiative |

FACULTY SUPPORT: As enrollment increases so too does the need to add more faculty. However, increased enrollment does not bring with it the funding to cover the costs of new faculty. Faculty are the lifeblood of the academic enterprise. Private gifts dedicated to hiring more faculty help us continue to expand the nursing program, providing more registered nurses to our community. The quality of a college is directly related to the quality of its faculty. Faculty not only teach our students, they inspire them to be all they are capable of being.

ONGOING PROGRAM SUPPORT: Every department
within the college has specific needs that are critical to its future
success. For the Library it may be the need for funds to purchase
new acquisitions or books. For the athletic department the need might
include equipment, uniforms, or transportation to away games. For
the music or theater department needs might include funding for music
or scripts, costumes or artists in residence. For other departments
funds are needed to bring in guest lecturers, etc. Click here for information about Commitment to Excellence Funds. Click here for information on the Summer Bridge Program. |

“We saw there was a big need for skilled nursing instructors in the area. At the time, there were 200 on the waiting list to become nursing students, but only two professors.”

“We asked where the school needed help the most, and this is it. If MCC doesn’t keep up technologically, the quality of the education will go down. It is critical for MCC students to keep up with current technology.” |
